4080 Doves in One day

My dad sold caterpillar tractors in North Carolina He collected high-grade doubles -Parkers, Fox Sterlingworths, LC Smiths, model 12 Winchesters- he had more than 60 shotguns and I sometimes went with him "trading" a few times. When I was growing up in NC all the land owners began to turn their farms into golf courses. Dad did very good selling tractors but also had many of his customers putting him on to the doves. I have three brothers; we all started out early picking up birds, like a bird dog. I was 10 when I got my first 20 gauge model 12. The limit was 12 birds back then; Dad gave me 2 boxes of shells per hunt and told me to pick my shots.

We often had 5 to 6 carloads of guests meeting us at our house and drove to these hogged corn fields, water holes, wherever dad\\\'s scouting network located the doves. Anyhow, I hunted like this from 10 to 21 every weekend then moved to Texas when I was 28. I was in sales and that company put on a dove hunt in Mexico with their best clients and I remember we used to shot 150 to 300 doves in a day.

But Cordoba, Argentina is a different world!

Just few weeks ago, the daily number of doves shot in one day has been broken: 4080! The percentage of shells needed to get to this total was a little over 7,000. The release of this information has been like the ticket sales of the NFL BROWNS when they picked \\\"Johnny Football\\\" in the NFL DRAFT. Well, the famous guy is Parker LeCorgne, from Louisiana. Great guy, great shooter!!

Guys remember as it is warming up in Vegas it is cooling down in Cordoba. The season had opened in Santa Fe province; it is time for mixed bag hunt. The best upland perdiz over pointer dogs, amazing volume of doves, like in Cordoba; and high quality duck hunts.

Just imagine waking up early in the morning, take a heavy breakfast with hot coffee and scrambled eggs with bacon, get your waders, your semi-automatic shot gun and jump into a boat for duck hunt before sunrise! Such a different feeling than parking your car at the office and prepare you coffee in the little kitchen, right?

Or, at mid-morning, imagine wearing your orange gear, with your over and under shot gun, driving a Toyota pick-up with your hunting guide and the dogs in the back of the truck, going for some of the most sportive hunt you can do with a dog. Perdiz will flash, and you will rather be ready to hit them without thinking.

Or, even better, an afternoon, after a nap in the field, walk 200 yards to your dove hunt spot, for unlimited birds!

That is what we have been doing, and what we will do in the next days. We will be hunting with Mr Rice and his family and friends for amazing mixed bag. We are expecting to have the cold weather soon. The first group of the season had suffered the warm weather that did not cooperate to make the ducks fly properly. The volumes of ducks were not as high as in the best times of the season but we had a great fun with Mr Danis and his friends, with multiple hunting options in one Lodge.

We hope you will be ready to quit your business rush for 5 days and jump in a plane from Delta or American Airlines and make it through Buenos Aires to Santa Fe province.

Great hunt times are coming and you should be one of the next ones visiting our San Javier Lodge.

We have already bought tons of shells and we are ready for rock and roll. Good tender loin beef and famous malbec red wine will be waiting for you.
