Wonderful Bird Hunting

June is the beginning of winter in the in the southern hemisphere. The mornings are getting colder, but you will not feel it, the volume of birds will be the only thing in the head of our guests. The sunsets paint picturesque scenes. Argentina will always be in the memories of these groups.

On the morning of June 9th, I went to pick up Mike, Rachael, Charles, Collin, Jennifer, Andre, Samuel, and Beverly, who arrived in Argentina a day before scheduled and were staying at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Córdoba city. As they were well rested from the night before, we decided to go straight to the field and began dove hunting. On the way, they changed their mind and asked to stop by the resort so they could drop their bags.

Once in the field, the field assistants were ready to welcome them, as well as Federico, who was their field guide and Leo, who was the cook. It was around 11 in the morning, and doves were not flying so much, but still, they were able to shoot a few boxes.

At lunchtime, the cook was waiting for them at the camp with drinks: Campari, vodka and orange juice. They loved the drink so much, they asked to have that over lunch instead of wine! They were surprised by the quantity and quality of the food, so it is safe to say they enjoyed their first lunch at camp! We were off to a great start!

During the afternoon, they decided to hunt in couples. The wind changed direction and so the doves were flying high and the hunt got a bit complicated, but they had a great time nonetheless.

The following day, we woke up and got out early. We headed to the east zone of Jesús María, also known as the lowlands. It was freezing and it was drizzling, but everyone was enthusiastic with the hunting! They couldn’t believe the great amount of doves, who were out of the roost and flying higher than usual. It was a good morning session for the group.

While Mike’s group was hunting, we came back to Córdoba and picked up another group who were staying at the Sheraton Hotel Córdoba. Mark, Stephen, Samuel, and James couldn’t wait to start the Wingshooting! We got to the field at around 9 in the morning.

It was so cold, that we took both groups to have lunch at a nearby inn. Afterward, both groups decided to skip nap time and head to the field instead, to continue with the hunting. They were hunting in groups of two, chatting and swapping places with each other.

With the headwind, birds flew very low which made a great afternoon for all of us and an amazing hunting session! Before coming back to the resort, they gathered at the campsite to share a few drinks and wines.

They enjoyed their stay at Jesús María Deluxe Resort, which provides the best of the Argentine countryside together with some city comfort. Located in a rural setting, the resort offers a relaxed environment, outdoor recreational areas, and delicious cuisine.

Although all had already visited the country in different occasions, they were thankful that we made them feel like home. They appreciated the teamwork and the attention to details.

They were happy with the experience and are all coming back home with a bunch of photos to show off and great anecdotes to tell!

And you, would you like to be the next one?
