Great Doves Great Place Great People

It was a father and son trip! Andrew, an absolutely passionate hunter, and his dad Bryan, a very encouraging dad, visited us in July. Andrew was very anxious to start the hunt. Luckily, he did not have to wait much. Our hunting fields are located very close to the airport, and we usually take our guests straight from the plane to the hunting.

So we got to the field and a hearty lunch had been prepared for our guests. Lavish meat in our customary asado and sweet dessert. We introduced the field assistants to our two new guests and then we started the fun.

Andrew had a clear goal in mind. For the very first afternoon in Argentina, he wanted to shoot a thousand birds. Easy peasy for a focused hunter in Argentina!!! His dad supported and encouraged him. When I visited him at his blind… surprise! He already had shot down the one thousand birds. Welcome to the one thousand birds club! So what comes after that? Two thousand birds in a day!!!! We talked him into this being his second goal while in Argentina.

When we got to La Loma Lodge that night, we gave him his One Thousand Birds T-shirt to rock back at home!

The second day started with two well rested hunters ready to have fun. Andrew was still thinking about his new goal. By the time I visited him in his blind, at mid morning, he had already shot down 600 birds. He was doing very well!!! He still had an hour at least before lunch and then, the entire afternoon.

He enjoyed lunch, but went straight to the blind after it. No time for siestas!

When we were about to wrap that day, we discovered that Bryant had shot down a thousand birds, too! Congratulations my friend!!! And, are you thinking about Andrew? Yes, he did it too! Two Thousand Brids in a day! He sat down with his dad to relax and enjoy a round of cold beers. They were very thankful to their field assistants as well for allowing them achieve these personal records!

When we were at La Loma Lodge, we gave Andrew his 2000 birds present: a leather pouch to keep shells and of course, the T shirt for dad Bryan, too.

The rest of the trip was enjoyed with more birds, food and fun. But let me tell you this anecdote!

In Argentina we have what we call “bidets”, they are like a basin, but they look just like a toilet with three taps where you would have the flush. Well, you can wash your feet here, for example. Andrew thought that in Argentina we had two toilets, one for doing number one, and the real toilet for doing number two. The thing is that bidets have like a shower in the middle of the basin, and the water coming out of it goes up with a lot of pressure. So Andrew peed there and immediately opened the “tap” (he thought it was the flush) to wash the pee away and……..he ended up soaked! From head to toes! LOL we thought this was hilarious! Andrew has definitely learnt a thing or two about Argentine toilets!

You should be the next one!
