It Is So Good to Be Back

Jack Hunt and his friends were anxious to arrive and be here again. It was not their first time here but it was their first time with us. The weather is nice outside which signals the day ahead will be wonderful. Non stop hunting for our friends.

Plaza Real Lodge has served breakfast for all the guests and we are used to enjoying these delicious nice flavors. We introduce our guests to the program, we brief them about the routine. And then we’re ready to start. Jack, Alex, Jimmy, Roberts, David and Alan leave the lodge at 8.30 to hit the fields. We’re just 40 minutes away from there and we drive our guests in confotable vans and pick up trucks. At the field, everything is ready waiting for them. Shotguns, shells, all the elements for the lunch camp.

As soon as we arrive our field assistants start greeting our guests and they show them their blinds, and we take them to each spot. What we really like about our field assistants is how passionate they are at this. They enjoy each guests’ shot as if it was theirs and they celebrate and laugh with them non stop.

After an intense morning hunt, we meet them at the lunch camp. Our chef Gaby has specially cooked delicious appetizers with dove meat and he has some nice drinks for them too, to enjoy during the break. Today the menu is dove tacos with our traditional chimuchurri sauce. Then, more doves wrapped in onion and bacon, and then our traditional asado. One of our guests, not long ago, told us “The Pointer Outfitter trip should include a detox program after so much delicious and lavish meat!”  Imagine how we laughed. Our lunch always features the best meat cuts in the region. Pork, beef, chicken, flanks, ribs, tenderloin cooked to perfection by the fire of local wood, which gives Argentine meat a unique smoky flavor. Malbec wine is also a star of the trip. Another delicious Argentine element to enjoy during the hunting trip.

Our hammocks are ready under the shade of the trees for a nice siesta before the afternoon hunt. We don’t struggle to wake up our guests, they start seeing the birds moving around and they know it’s time to start!

We have different fields in different areas to make sure our guest enjoy the greatest volume of birds they’ve been hearing in countless anecdotes about Argentina. Birds of course migrate, so for example, at this time of year we aim towards the lower areas, where crops have just been harvested or are being harvested.

That day, we took our guests to a field of corn where 90% of the doves are eating the corn left. The birds fly in circles over the fields, which we know, it’s going to be good and they are not going to stop flying duting the entire afternoon.

Another detail, the wind. That day the wind was against the flight of the birds so they were like in slow motion.

At 2.30 we have the first flight of birds in the afternoon. Time to get ready! Our field assistants have the guns ready and they go to the blinds with their hunters. Jack, Alex, Jimmy, Robert, David and Alan are really happy and satisfied with the hunt they are having.

We wrap the day when we pick up our guests from their hunting spots. Ready for a round of beers???? Yes! Our Plaza Real Lodge is waiting for them with delicious snacks, comfortable seats by the fire, traditional Malbec Wine and if our guests requested, masage sessions by profesional massage therapists. Knowing that our guest are in good hands, all Plaza Real Lodge and Pointer Outfitters’ staff, I leave them to get ready everything for another day of great volume of birds and non stop hunting.

You should be the next one!
